I love going in the grocery store to see a carton of blueberries cost less than an arm and a leg. Seriously, blueberry season gets me very excited. So far, I’ve made blueberry muffins and scones. All breakfast items, since I am a firm believer in “no fruit for dessert”.
Unfortunately, blueberry season aligns well (or not so well) with bikini season. So I get to sample these delicious creations and the rest goes to my coworkers the next morning.
I followed the recipe for these beautiful blueberry muffins from Just Another Day in Paradise (http://zitzmanfam.blogspot.com/2012/02/streusel-topped-blueberry-muffins.html). I subbed apple sauce for oil. The strussel topping was delicious and I think they just looked gorgeous.
The scones were so yummy. I followed the recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction (http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2014/07/22/my-favorite-blueberry-scones/). I left out the glaze (remember, bikini season). I love blueberry scones, especially the ones from Starbucks. Let me tell you, these kicked Starbucks scone-butt.
